So Moli is totally into this Christmas thing. She totally gets that it is exciting, but she doesn't know why.
1. Santa- we do Santa but don't make a super huge deal out of it. It's just a little fun part of the holiday. When we went to see Santa, she thought he was Papa. Grace did the same thing her first Christmas. Oddly, my dad takes this as the highest form of compliment. To me it says he has white hair, a white beard, and a belly like a bowl full of jelly. But I'm glad he's cool with it.
So when we saw Santa, Moli refused to sit in his lap. He offered her a candy cane and she still refused. Under no other circumstance would I force or bribe my child to sit on a strange man's lap, so Santa is no exception. She did for some strange reason lift up his jacket and stick her hand up there... Not sure what was going on in that little head.
2. She followed Grace and told Santa she wanted a kitty. Not happening. So they both are getting Furreal cats. Moli wants hers now. She wants to know how he gets here, so I told her he flies. Her response? "Her have rings (wings)? Her have wings like Kinkabell or Bakman?" (Everyone is a her.)
3. Over the summer I went to a children's ministry leader seminar and they suggested getting a cheap nativity scene for your children so you don't spend your Christmas shouting "Don't touch Jesus! Put him down!" I also expounded up this advice and got two, not wanting to hear "Give me Jesus. That's not your Jesus. It's my Jesus!" So yesterday I got two $3 nativity scenes from Family Dollar. The girls love them. But they smell to high heaven. Really. They smell like they were doused in gasoline. What do you expect for $3?
4. Moli slept with her Nativity scene. She slept with a wise man in each hand (she calls them Batmen)and everything else laid out on her pillow. It was such a photo op, but the camera was in the car, and it was too c-c-c-cold to go get it. You'll have to take my word for it- it was precious!

I love the idea of a nativity scene that they can take a part and play with. We have one that my silly huband always sneaks a little Yoda figurine in with the wisemen. My kiddos are really going to be confused! Yep, I need to get them their own that doesn't have a Yoda :)
We had this same little nativity that we put under the tree every year when I was little. One year, when I was about 11, our cat stole baby Jesus. We searched all over the house for Jesus, but he wasn't to be found. So when Christmas was over we packed up our Jesus-less nativity and hoped we could find another baby Jesus.
The next year we set up our Jesus-less nativity again lamenting the loss of the ever-so-important Christ child and what should happen? That same cat came trotting up to us, baby Jesus in tow and deposited him right next to the wise men. It was sooo weird!
Yoda as a wise man? Too funny!
There IS a lot of wisdom in that Yoda. "Try not. Do or do not." is one of my favorite quotations.
Shea, that story would be unbelievable... if it didn't happen to you. You just never know what's going to happen on that farm!

You need to get the Little people Nativity scene. Clara Beth and Emanuiel LOVE it. We leave it out all year long. It has a little angel that goes on top and plays "Away in a Manger".
Christmas is so fun with little ones around!!
