Guilin on Amazing Race
Last night my friend Shelbi called to make sure we were tivoing Amazing Race. I was so excited, assuming they must be in China. Much to my delight, they were not only in China, but in Guilin, the city where Moli was born and spent the first three years of her life. A year ago as we traveled to Guilin from the Provincial Capital where we received her, Moli recognized the city and said as translated by the guide, "This is my home!"
Guilin is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. (Seriously. Not just because it gave me my daughter.) It is known for the beautiful Li river and its limestone formations.
Last night part of Amazing Race was filmed right outside our hotel. If you watch the show, then dancing and caligraphy challenges were filmed right outside the Guilin Bravo. It is a breathtaking area, with the beautiful pagodas and bridges.
If you didn't get to see the episode, you can watch it online!
I do have to say that several contestants chose this particular city to act like total buffoons. Fantastic.

Unfortunately, it seems like lots of contestants on those shows act ignorant, especially when they are in cultures that the are not familiar with. Makes me want to thump them on the head.
How neat to be able to see that. We were excited when they went to Novosibirsk in Russia, too.
